Sanga

BRANCHES & CROSSROADS

(Roleplaying Game Ritual)

RPG Rituals are playspaces of inner transformation and/or external practicing where the “character” and “player” are one–
you are playing with your own ego/persona within the framework, mechanics, and setting of the game.

Sanga: Crossroads

  • The Story: You are part of a team of Questors journeying into the Spirit Lands to confront beings of terror called the Opprimus. You can shapeshift into 2 forms when in the Spirit Lands– your UnderSoul (with Powers from your Ancestry) and your UpperSoul (with Powers from past lives unrelated to your Ancestry). You also have access to Community Power generated by working together with your Team.
  • Game Mechanics: This is a homebrew system, influenced by the following TTRPGs: Nobilis by Jenna K. Moran, The Strange by Bruce R. Cordell and Monte Cook, and City of Mist by Amit Moshe. This is the second version of this game– the original version created in 2019 was called “The Gates”.
  • Ritual Intentions: This is a long term campaign of inner transformation that encourages you to look at your sources of spiritual power while also facing the traumatic effects and internalization of oppression.
  • Group Size: 3-6 participants
  • Prerequisite: Hidhid: Storm Sanctuary, Anito: Other Than Human Connection, Liwat: Cycles, Hawak: Bodywork, and Sakom: Soul Retrieval. Or fill out the registration form explaining your practices of self-stabilization, animism, grief and joy, connection to body and land, and soul retrieval and spirit transformation.

Panahon: The Paths of Time

  • The Story: You are at the centre of a multiverse mystery. A version of you, called a Conqueror, has figured out how to cross into different timelines and dimensions to wreak havoc. You have been chosen to lead other versions of yourself as a team to uncover why the Conqueror is doing this in the hopes of transforming them and bringing the parallel worlds back into balance.
  • Game Mechanics: This is a homebrew system that has 3 Modes– Session, Retreat, and Daily. Session Mode and Retreat Mode is somewhat influenced by the TTRPG system Kids On Bikes by Jonathan Gilmour and Doug Levandowski. Retreat Mode and Daily Mode require creating your own decks, and builds on the play experiences of Hawak.
  • Ritual Intentions: This is a long term campaign of inner transformation and external play that encourages you to utilize all the practices from Hidhid, Anito, Liwat, Hawak, Dawani, and Sakom.
  • Group Size: 1-6 participant(s)
  • Prerequisite: Hidhid: Storm Sanctuary, Anito: Other Than Human Connection, Liwat: Cycles, Hawak: Bodywork, and Sakom: Soul Retrieval. Puli: Homecoming

  • The Story: You are part of a collective of exorcists that have uncovered the horrific supernatural truth of the world– at some point in the last ten thousand years, the Disorientation occurred. This spiritual singularity, whether sudden or gradual, resulted in all spirits becoming Lost to their original purpose of harmony, and they have now become entities whose survival is dependent on feeding on the fear of humans. With the help of an ancient artifact that survived the Disorientation, your collective hopes to face any of the Lost and bring them back home to their original purpose.
  • Game Mechanics: A homebrew version of The Magnus Archives RPG.
  • Ritual Intentions: This can be a one-shot session or long term campaign of inner transformation and external play that encourages you to utilize practices from Dawani and Sakom.
  • Group Size: 1-6 participants
  • Prerequisite: Hidhid: Storm Sanctuary, Anito: Other Than Human Connection, Liwat: Cycles, Hawak: Bodywork, and Sakom: Soul Retrieval. Anino: Shadow

  • The Story: You recently moved into a communal household and are already witnessing or experiencing conflict with the other housemates. One of the housemates suggests a bonding activity by requesting everyone play a game together. To your horror, as you touch the eerily familiar dice, you realize that you had played this game before as a teenager, where you were sucked into a horrible realm based on your deepest fears and desires, and had to do what you needed to do to survive so that you could make it back out into the “real” world. All of your housemates also have been to this world– alone, with a different group, or they had been one of the survivors with you. You all are transported back to the fantasy world you had escaped from years ago, to finish what you started.
  • Game Mechanics: A homebrew version of DIE RPG.
  • Ritual Intentions: This can be a one-shot session or long term campaign of inner transformation and external play that encourages you to utilize self-accountability and transformative justice practices from Hidhid, Liwat, Dawani, and Sakom.
  • Group Size: 1-5 participants
  • Prerequisite: Hidhid: Storm Sanctuary, Anito: Other Than Human Connection, Liwat: Cycles, Hawak: Bodywork, and Sakom: Soul Retrieval. Or fill out the registration form explaining your practices of self-stabilization, animism, grief and joy, connection to body and land, and soul retrieval and spirit transformation.

Pagiriba: Spirit Politics

  • The Story: You live in Flume City, a settler colonial urban area steeped in the politics of living humans, spirits of all sorts, and the dead. A cavalcade of protestors, the largest that the City has seen in a decade, have taken over the downtown core around city hall. After a week of rising violence while establishing blockades and base camps, it’s clear that the Cavalcade is linked somehow to the four main communities of Flume City and their 9 factions. Whose side is the Cavalcade on? What are their aims? Who are the spirits controlling them? And, most importantly, depending on which faction and community you’re a part of, what are you going to do about it?
  • Game Mechanics: A homebrew version of Urban Shadows 2.0 TTRPG.
  • Ritual Intentions: This can be a one-shot session or long term campaign of inner transformation and external play that encourages you to utilize practices from Hidhid, Anito, Dawani, and Sakom while imagining ways to collectively dismantle spiritual and institutional oppression.
