Class Descriptions

Spirituality

Bless Our Lucky Stars: Astrology Through Storytelling

Through a series of stories that combines elements from the Bisayan/Bikol creation story and Hellenistic astrological structures, this 3 month long course seeks to explain the 12 signs of the zodiac and the 12 solar houses of the birth chart. Participants will have the chance to craft their own stories and explore their understanding of the zodiac through the elemental correspondences of earth, water, fire, and air. This program is a revised version of the Bless Our Lucky Stars videos created in 2020.

Activism

Romp & Resistance: Anti-Oppression Through Games & Storytelling

This 3 month long beginner-friendly class will introduce anti-oppression concepts through infographics and games. Participants are encouraged to explore their own capacities and ideas for personal and collective liberation by telling stories and engaging in creative activities. They will then be supported to build practical plans in turning their ideas into activism.

Creativity

The Tongue’s Devices: Performance Poetry

These 4 introductory poetry classes will explore the following: 1) inspiration, research, and ethics; 2) style & drafts; 3) editing & revision; and 4) performance. Through games and worksheets, participants can focus on existing bodies of work or create new work that they can then present to each other. A showcase may be organized at a local venue if there’s enough interest from participants.

Cut-Paste-Create! Zines & Collage

These 4 introductory classes will explore the following: 1) the history of collage and zines and how to seek inspiration; 2) different types of layout and themes; 3) choosing and gathering materials; and 4) pasting it all together. Through games and discussion, participants can focus on existing bodies of work or create new work that they can then present to each other. A showcase may be organized at a local venue if there’s enough interest from participants.

The Arc of the Spoken: Storytelling Basics

These 4 introductory storytelling classes will explore the following: 1) inspiration, research, and ethics; 2) arcs & lessons; 3) preparations & rehearsal; and 4) performance & presentation. Through games and worksheets, participants can focus on existing bodies of work or create new work that they can then present to each other. A showcase may be organized at a local venue if there’s enough interest from participants.

Relationships & Sexuality

Rebel & Relate: Polyamory, Relationship Anarchy & Anti-Oppression

This course focuses on ethical nonmonogamy from the lens of the political framework of anarchism. Through games and discussion, participants will explore the differences between polyamory and relationship anarchy, as well as building skills that can be useful in all relationships: understanding relationship needs, communicating them, and resolving conflict.

The Flow of Creation: Understanding Erotic Energy

This playful course explores the creation energy within our navels, how it connects to our desires and kinks, and how to embody our pleasure. We will be discussing possible exercises that we can practice in our own time, ranging from journaling, building musical playlists, making collages, mixing herbs for teas, and planning sexual activities.

Subversive Domversive: Anti-Oppression & Kink

Exchanging power requires knowing power– and privilege. In this course of activities and discussion breakout groups, we’ll get into the ethics and politics of kink. Questions we’ll explore: How do we engage in subservience and domination without replicating oppression? Where is the line between subverting power and perpetuating it? How do we organize or host events while keeping in mind these dynamics? No previous knowledge of anti-oppression is necessary, we’ll cover the basics at the start, including some group agreements on triggers, content warnings, how to call out or call in, how to receive feedback, and what folks want to focus on. We may not arrive at any answers to the revolution, but we can think about bringing power back to the people, from out of the state and into the bedrooms.
